The Wall between Gate Tower and Powder Tower strangely enough the weakest of the old defence walls, walled over by Ludwig V with 9 loop-holes for guns, which stood free behind copings on the 56-foot wide platform of the south wall. Ludwig's chief concern was the fortification of the north and west side of the castle. The fortified towers on the east side are old bulwarks which were first strengthened under his successors.
