A View of the
Frauenzimmer, Library, and Ruprecht
Buildings

Frauenzimmer Building, Library Building, Ruprecht Building, in the right corner adjoining the North Wall, form the west wall of the castle courtyard. Whereas the Frauenzimmer Building is roffed over on the first floor, the other two buildings are ruins. Seen from Gun Park the original vaulting of the storeys of the Library Building, resting on a centeral pillar, is easily recognizable. In the top storey we can see into the charming oriel window adorning the courtyard side of the otherwise plain building. The adjoining Ruprecht Building to the south, named after the Count Palatine Ruprecht III, the German King, has undergone several architectural changes. From the way these three buildings are grouped it is clearly seen that the Library Building recedes from the front of the castle courtyard, that is to say from the old castle precincts, and that the outer and inner defence walls serve as foundation for the upper storeys of the building, a proof that the building was only erected after Ludwig V had constructed Gun Park.
