the last great fortification of the Elector Karl (1680-1685) placed with forbodings of martial events in front of the Bell Tower , that is to say facing the valley, inorder to dominate the valley road and the hills opposite. Since the destruction of 1689 they have lain in ruins. Noteworthy is the still intact gate in the western forecourt of the redoubt which we pass through after climbing up the Burgweg. |
